Skill Training

  • Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development: Under Utkarsh Bangla prakalpa through Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development (PBSSD), Southern Resque had targets for the courses like Domestic Data Entry Operator, Desktop Publishing, Banking and Hardware under sectors like IT & ITES, BFSI and Electronics respectively in Kulpi and Pathar Pratima blocks. Southern Resque was able to build skills of 90 students under Banking, 30 students under Data Entry, 30 students under Hardware course. The trainees of banking and hardware courses have undergone assessment and qualified successfully. Presently 30 students under Banking, 30 students under D.T.P are undergoing skill development process. The courses will likely to complete by June 2019. The organization is in the process of arranging job placements for all the trainees who have successfully completed the training. Self Help Group & Self Employment (SHG & SE): With the support of South 24 Parganas district Self Help Group & Self Employment (SHG & SE) department, Southern Resque has completed computer, tailoring and candle making training for 580 rural women under Kulpi, Bishnupur-II and Magrahat-II blocks. All the trainees have got certificates from competent authority and engaged as self-employed. In Bishnupur-II Block, 60 rural women have undergone training on computer software and tailoring for a period of 3 months and are engaged as self-employed. 30 rural women capacitated on computer software training and have shared their willingness to participate in beautician and tailoring courses in Magrahat-II Block. Meanwhile they are engaged as self-employed. The trainees under Belpukur gram panchayat have marketed their candles in Krishi mela organized by Kulpi Block and are eager to start joint venture with Southern Resque for candle production and marketing activities. Hopefully next year, Southern Resque can be able to start any venture with these trained SHGs.
  • Swabalamban: 50 unemployed youth living under Kulpi Block, District-South 24 Parganas received skill training on readymade garments making. The project was supported by Women and Child Development, Govt. of West Bengal. The process includes identification through strong involvement of gram panchayat and community resource persons and subsequently capacity building of 50 youth in making readymade garments and arrangement of marketing of products. As part of the result the 50 unemployed youth became self-sufficient.
  • Youth department: With the support of Govt. of West Bengal, 20 youth had been capacitated on computer education in Pathar Pratima Block and presently they are engaged as self reliant youth.
